DESCRIPTION: Henry Rentzheimer American tall case clock, 8 day time and strike weight driven movement in mahogany fan decorated case with arched brass dial and seaweed spandrels, displaying date aperture at 6 o'clock and second's bit at 12 o'clock and signed Henry Rentzheimer on disc in arch, c1785
CONDITION: refinished broken arch case with fan accent on door [now gilded], and the plinth has had a crack filled in and been restained, French style feet are original. The brass dial is in excellent condition with original hands, the broken arch hood HAS three finely spun brass finials (not pictured) for the three fluted chimneys. One of the weights has its outer cover fractured. Henry Rentzheimer is listed in Spittler & Bailey's "American Clockmakers & Watchmakers" as living in Allentown Pennsylvania before 1812. Ht 93"
